Closet Discovery:
Oregon Scientific PDA
I remember picking this up at an Office Max type of store. Palm Pilots were all the rage, but my high school self couldn’t afford (and really didn’t have any need for something so advanced) such a premium device. Address books in many cell phones at the time had a 50-100 contact limit and if a person had a home and mobile phone number, it was considered 2 separate contacts (super lame, right?).
This thing served me well for about 2 years, which was a long time for a student. I’m sure I didn’t look too cool whipping it out when I was collecting people’s info, but it made me feel high tech back then. Are there any computers that still have a printer port?!
The PDA is powered by 2 button batteries. Even the dock needs a AAA battery as printer ports supplied zero power, lol. There’s a spot for the stylus in the case, unfortunately it has not turned up. The picture of course was doctored up to give it that appropriately 90’s look.
